Job Summary:

Lead the Facilities Maintenance team at Trinchero Family Estates’ (TFE) Napa Valley production facilities. Oversee Facilities Maintenance programs and protocols to ensure our facilities and equipment are operating at the highest levels within the industry, working closely with TFE business partners to ensure objectives and goals are met or exceeded.

 

This role requires a leader focused on supporting people, through which all Team strategies and objectives will be accomplished.  This leader will foster a culture that values accountable and engaged safety behaviors, supports innovation and continuous improvement activities that target production and maintenance processes, and consistently drives toward increased quality and efficiency through standardization, skill development, and root cause problem solving.

Safety Management:

  • Embraces and leads in TFE’s Zero Incident Safety Culture, encouraging and demonstrating accountability and engagement.
  • Ensures adherence to all TFE Safety Programs and compliance training requirements.
  • Understands and ensures compliance with Food Safety and Quality Management programs (SQF, ISO, GMPs, etc.).

Leadership: 

  • Facilitates the development of an empowered work team through mentorship, coaching, and clear direction to the team.
  • Champions a culture of continual innovation and process improvement.
  • Collaborates with other department leaders to seek out and solve problems.

  • Manages and implements required team training and ensures adherence to all policies, procedures, and governmental regulations. 
  • Manages and improves career planning and personnel development of staff.
  • Manages and ensures annual performance evaluation cycles are effective and timely.
  • Assist with labor planning and development strategy within the Maintenance Department.
  • Responsible for taking disciplinary actions for direct reports when warranted.
  • Manages and ensures adherence to Company policies and team standards.

Communications:

  • Manages all TFE Communications with weekly staff meetings.
  • Ensures smooth and effective shift turnovers and creates information sharing processes in support of day-to-day activities.
  • Provides timely communication to team regarding company and departmental updates, opportunities, events, etc.
  • Relays relevant status updates to equipment stakeholders during emergency repair or overhaul periods.
  • Encourages feedback from internal and external teammates.
  • Effectively presents topics to a group audience of direct reports, peers, or upper management.

Operations:

  • Manages team shift scheduling and ensures proper timekeeping and attendance.
  • Develop and oversee work order management and labor scheduling processes utilizing Computer Based Maintenance Management (CMMS).
  • Interact with contractors and vendors in support of specialized work or parts ordering for equipment repairs
  • Continuously improves all processes within the Maintenance Department to drive out waste and improve the work
  • Drives employee training and development through identification of training gaps and implementation of relevant training and development plans.
  • Takes a hands-on approach to maintenance work and problem solving.
  • Manages special projects as directed and identifies further continuous improvement projects to improve facility and equipment operation.
  • Manage and support planning for jobs, projects, and equipment repair.
  • Supervise installation and commissioning of new equipment, including relevant training with respect to new equipment operation, maintenance, and parts inventory updates.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Technical or College degree preferred
  • Years of Experience: 5 or more years previous experience in production maintenance at multiple facilities and supervision of staff (winemaking industry preferred)
  • Experience and working knowledge of electrical systems and ammonia refrigeration systems or HVAC preferred
  • Language: Bi-lingual preferred
  • Experience with SQF, ISO, and LEAN manufacturing preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Valid California driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean DMV record
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, proven ability to communicate effectively and work well with other employees
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow through with projects
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proactive in addressing problems for positive results
  • Process oriented with focus on continuous improvement
  • Work independently without Supervision, as well as part of large groups and teams.
  • Strong Computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel) to write reports
  • Accurately carry out written and verbal instructions
  • Proven track record of working safe, efficient and in cooperative manner
  • Stay current with changes in the maintenance procedures and techniques
  • Support and model all Company policies and procedures
  • Background in fabrication, welding, electrical, plumbing, auto repair and/or other related mechanical fields preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Moderate to heavy physical work
  • Work site may be any one of Trinchero Family Estates’ facilities
  • Standing for long periods of time (8 hours per day)
  • Must comply with all safety equipment requirements including ear plugs and safety glasses
  • Exposure to various chemicals in production areas
  • Exposure to machinery, forklifts and related production equipment
  • Long and irregular hours during peak periods or on various shifts
  • Extensive walking and lifting of up to 55 pounds

Salary Range: $100,000.00 -  $130,000.00  

The starting pay will be based on several factors, including but not limited to experience, training, education, and geographic location. TFE offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, PTO, wellness programs and fertility and family building benefits.   We also provide a 401(k) plan where TFE may make a discretionary profit-sharing contribution.
