Job Summary:

The seasonal weighmaster will weigh and process grape and tanker trucks entering and leaving the winery according to schedule. This position will also be responsible for processing and basic analysis of grape truck samples, distribution and filing of shipping documents, as well as cleaning work areas at the end of each shift.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Timely and accurate weighing of inbound and outbound grape and/or tanker trucks in order to stay on schedule
  • Operate sampling machinery to collect grape truck samples
  • Generate weigh tags and accurately handle bill of lading (BOL)
  • Run brix, temperature and pH analysis on grape truck samples
  • Facilitate Coordination between scale house, crush pad, cellar, and lab.
  • Coordinate delivery of samples to the lab
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
  • Follow safe operating procedures and TFE safety policies

 

Other Functions:

  • Cleaning Sugar Shack and Scale house at end of day
    • Involves chemicals and using a forklift to discard pomace
  • Additional duties may include filing and data entry, and possibly light cellar work/cleaning

Qualifications:

  • English and Spanish speaking preferred
  • Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
  • Ability to work from August to mid-November
  • Accurate data entry ability and good math skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to be trained on routine lab analysis (pH, brix, temperature)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to interact effectively and communicate with co-workers and truck drivers
  • Ability to perform basic clerical functions and operate office machines
  • Certified to operate a forklift or willingness to become certified
  • Able to be fit tested and wear appropriate PPE

Working Conditions:

  • 10-12 hour shifts 6 days a week (Monday through Saturday) – start time 4:30 am
  • Office environment with outdoor exposure and stairs
  • Frequent deadline pressures

  • Comply with company safety regulations

Salary Range: $19.15 -  $25.00  

The starting pay will be based on several factors, including but not limited to experience, training, education, and geographic location.
