Job Summary:

The Capability Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive strategy that aligns learning, talent management, and capability development initiatives with TFE’s organizational goals. This role will lead the design, implementation, and management of a broad range of programs aimed at enhancing employee skills, fostering career growth, and building organizational capacity to support business objectives. The Capability Development Manager will work closely with business leaders and HR to promote continuous learning, drive leadership development, and ensure a high-performance culture.

 

The Capability Development Manager, in partnership with internal Business Leaders, will lead TFE’s training and development initiatives both internally for employees and externally for customer partners. The successful leader will have strong skills and experience in the design, development and implementation of learning, development and change management initiatives and programs utilizing the tools and practices considered leading edge within a training and development organization.  The successful candidate will be responsible for selecting, creating and updating curriculum and utilizing appropriate training delivery methods and facilitation skills to deliver structured as well as just-in-time training programs utilizing a decentralized train the trainer model that relies on business partner resources within tight budget parameters. This candidate will have the opportunity to touch all areas of our business and broaden their professional skill set with knowledge and experience in the application of organizational development principles, practices and tools that support execution of business strategy.

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive capability development strategy that aligns with TFE’s organizational goals and addresses both current and future workforce needs.
  • Ensure seamless integration of learning and development initiatives with talent management practices, creating a unified approach to employee growth.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align training and development priorities with medium- and long-term business objectives.

Program Development and Execution

  • Design and implement targeted learning programs to address leadership skill gaps, enhance capabilities, and support career development pathways across the organization.
  • Utilize a variety of learning modalities (e.g., in-person, virtual, on-demand) to deliver high-quality, scalable training programs.

Talent Management Integration (Medium/Long Term)

  • Work closely with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) to enhance talent management processes, including succession planning, performance management, and employee engagement strategies.
  • Analyze talent data to identify trends and gaps, creating actionable development plans to build organizational capability and support workforce readiness.

Onboarding

  • Oversee the development and execution of a comprehensive onboarding program to ensure that new hires are effectively integrated into the organization.
  • Partner with HR and departmental leaders to design onboarding experiences that align with TFE’s culture and values, ensuring that new employees feel welcomed and equipped to succeed in their roles.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with department leaders to understand their talent needs and promote relevant learning and development initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on best practices in talent development, leadership enhancement, and workforce capability.

Evaluation and Metrics

  • Define and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of training and development programs and ensure they align with business outcomes.
  • Regularly assess the impact of training initiatives, providing data-driven insights to leadership regarding program effectiveness and its influence on employee performance and organizational success.

Budget and Resource Management

  • Manage the budget for talent and capability initiatives, ensuring the effective allocation of resources to maximize return on investment.
  • Manage third-party vendor relationships, ensuring training programs align with organizational needs and standards.
  • Manage the application process for ETP funding, ensuring efficient reimbursement of funds for external training resources.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education:  Bachelors or Masters degree in Business, Education or a related discipline
  • Years of Experience:  10+ years of progressive experience in the training or organizational development field within a consumer products manufacturing environment.  Operational environment training experience required.
  • Hands-on experience in training/portfolio resource planning, reporting, prioritization and budgeting
  • Knowledge of training techniques, organizational development theories, adult learning principals and curriculum development techniques.
  • Experience leading a training organization and building programs within a consumer products, sales or manufacturing environment as well as managing external providers
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levels  
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the impact of training on overall performance
  • Action oriented project manager who successfully builds and manages cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Work effectively in managing ambiguous situations and adapting to informal business-area cultures when encountered.  Effectively manage pressure.
  • Demonstrate ability to work flexibly, independently and handle multiple business and technology assignments concurrently within a changing environment
  • Ability to work with confidential information on a regular basis.

  • A willingness to learn, grow and help move forward changes in business needs.

Salary Range: $98,100.00 -  $160,000.00  

The starting pay will be based on several factors, including but not limited to experience, training, education, and geographic location. TFE offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, PTO, wellness programs and fertility and family building benefits.   We also provide a 401(k) plan where TFE may make a discretionary profit-sharing contribution.
