Environmental Intern

Job Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated candidate looking for a unique opportunity to play an active role in the TFE Water Conservation Initiative Program. The internship will be a hands-on learning experience, and provide an in-depth look at water use and conservation management in an industrial and office setting.  The Environmental Intern will support the environmental department, the Water Conservation Initiative Program, as well as other related sustainability initiatives. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Support, development and enhancement of the water conservation initiative  program
  • Assist with water use audits, and support reporting based on findings
  • Identify and analyze issues, assess current water use activities and content
  • Evaluate opportunities, and make recommendations to improve the program
  • Assist with developing visual tools and education within the industrial and office settings
  • Analyze, observe, and collect metrics on water usage and conservation efforts
  • Assist with data visualization for water use footprint metrics and reporting
  • Assist in developing PowerPoint, spreadsheet design, and data input for employee training
  • Gain experience in the field of water conservation and management
  • Achieve a deeper understanding about the challenges of water use restrictions and conservation in California’s wine industry

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled full time at a College or University in an undergraduate or graduate program
  • Primary major in environmental related degree, water management is preferred
  • Ability to accurately follow instructions and take direction
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to follow through
  • Organized, self-motivated, and accountable for work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, & Excel

Working Conditions:

  • Moderate physical work
  • Must comply with safety equipment requirements including ear plugs and safety glasses
  • Exposure to various chemicals in production areas
  • Exposure to machinery, forklifts and related production equipment
  • Exposure to various weather and temperature conditions 
  • Work environment of both an office and field setting
