Job Summary:

Assists Plant Engineer with research, design, and implementation of the engineering department needs and provides project management and coordination of capital projects and facility projects as directed by Plant Engineer.  Able to assist individually and with the engineering teams on site infrastructure needs with efforts towards continuous improvement.


Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for identifying project requirements for minor capital projects to develop an engineering scope of work, budget and schedule. 
    • Manage the budget, scope, schedule and quality of these projects from design and proposal stages through project construction and startup and may manage several minor capital projects at one time.  Additional responsibilities will include project documentation and project close out. 
  • Assists in managing organization's facilities and special projects as directed by the Plant Engineer and Director of Engineering including but not limited to refrigeration, heating, ventilating and air conditioning, emergency generators, plumbing, water treatment, and electric systems and all other Winery production related equipment. 
  • Interfaces with appropriate staff/managers to receive information regarding special project and facility needs; ensures timely response to requests.
  • Interfaces with appropriate staff, engineers, and outside contractors to review and/or develop renovation and new construction plans; coordinates communication with, and work of, outside contractors. 
  • Expected to, through the course of work, to obtain a basic knowledge of city and state building codes, OSHA requirements, and ADA laws; implements OSHA and ADA guidelines and programs.
  • Provide support to Engineering team and local Maintenance team in developing and maintaining budgets, schedules and other tracking systems as they relate to TFE projects, continuous maintenance and maintenance improvements.
  • Responsible for performing general Autocad work to support site needs.  Examples include producing and updating site maps, producing layout drawings, and plotting large format drawings.
  • Responsible for understanding the Food Safety and Quality Management System and related activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager.


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (will consider experience, especially in food and beverage industries)
  • Years of Experience: Two years related experience or equivalent
  • Knowledge of ventilation/air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and construction materials and methods
  • Possesses and maintains basic mechanical systems, electrical, plumbing, construction materials and methods, as well a basic knowledge of structural systems and infrastructure systems as they relate to building construction and winery production equipment.
  • Strong understanding of system safety and construction safety as it relates to daily operations and/or construction activities within the site, making Safety the highest priority.
  • Self motivated individual, able to conduct existing system operation research, operating cost metrics and apply learnings to value engineered solutions. 
  • Experience with mid-size to large anhydrous Ammonia refrigeration systems (40 hour operator course, RETA certs, PSM/PHA experience, etc.)
  • Drinking water systems certifications a plus
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels
  • Ability to manage priorities, workflow and meet deadlines
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Ability to learn, understand, and develop schematics (electrical), P&ID’s, and various construction plans
  • Creative, flexible and innovative team player
  • Computer proficient in MS Word and Excel
  • Functional knowledge of AutoCAD required.  Advanced AutoCAD skills a plus.
  • Bilingual skills a plus
  • CMRP or equivalent reliability certifications a plus.

  • Moderate physical work
  • Work site may be any one of Trinchero Family Estates’ facilities
  • Must comply with all safety equipment requirements including ear plugs and safety glasses
  • Exposure to various chemicals in production areas
  • Exposure to machinery, forklifts and related production equipment
  • Long and irregular hours during peak periods
  • Extensive walking and lifting of up to 55 pounds
