Vineyard Mechanic- $1,000 Sign-On Bonus

Job Summary:

Assist with the repair and maintenance of most equipment used in the Trinchero vineyards farming operation.

Job Skills

  • Have a basic electrical understanding
  • Safely use electrical equipment
  • Understand proper shop safety and housekeeping requirements
  • Proper and safe use of hand tools
  • Proper and safe use of basic shop equipment
  • Check tire pressure / change tire
  • Check fluid levels
  • Check / clean battery
  • Follow and complete safety inspection checklist
  • Check for leaks including in hydraulic systems
  • Can operate the equipment that they will work on (tractors, forklift, trenchers, grape harvesters)
  • Can operate hydraulic systems
  • Knows or can identify proper fluids to top off (cooling systems, hydraulics, engine)
  • Change oil and filters in many different engines and hydraulic systems
  • Can safely use oxyacetylene cutting torches

  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of most equipment assigned to the Vineyard shops
  • Have basic mechanical skills with the aptitude of learning how to fix other specialty vineyard equipment
  • Support with installation and implementation of new equipment
  • The ability to weld and the knowledge required to install and maintain electrical and hydraulic equipment
  • Fostering a cooperative working atmosphere within the vineyard shops, among the area vineyard managers and their staffs plus encouraging collaboration with mechanics and managers outside the immediate area

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical ability for the repair and maintenance of all vineyard farming implements which shall include but not be limited to fabrication, welding, electrical, and hydraulic equipment
  • The operation of vineyard equipment plus familiarity with the operation of tools that are found in farming R&M shops (lathe, drill press, band saw, grinder etc.)
  • Have the basic fundamentals for Problem solving/troubleshooting skills when addressing mechanical, electrical, fabrication and personnel issues
  •  Some fabrication experience is useful
  • Good communication skills with detailed follow up with lead mechanics
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Spanish / English bilingual and basic computer skills preferred
  • Ability to take instruction from lead mechanics
  • Must poses basic tools and tool box to perform vineyard job tasks

Working Conditions:

  • Moderate to heavy physical work
  • Work site may be any one of Trinchero Family Estates’ facilities- The primary work site shall be located at the Trinchero Arbuckle Ranch Shop.  The Vineyard Mechanic will be asked from time to time to work at any and all of the Trinchero Vineyard locations (from Amador County to Santa Barbara)
  • Standing for long periods of time (8 hours per day)
  • Must comply with all safety equipment requirements including ear plugs and safety glasses
  • Exposure to various chemicals in production areas
  • Exposure to machinery, forklifts and related production equipment
  • Long and irregular hours during peak periods or on various shifts, including the Saturday and Sunday work associated with farming
  • Extensive walking and lifting of up to 55 pounds
  • Exposure to outside elements (heat, wet and/or damp conditions, cold)

Salary Range: $25.30 -  $38.00
