eCommerce Web Designer

Job Summary:

The position is a combination of Web Design (80%) & Front-End Development (20%) with the responsibility of taking design efforts from concept to delivery, as briefed.  The Web Designer will oversee, conceptualize and execute designs for ongoing email, digital marketing and consumer facing web content.  Must be able to multi-task, collaborate with team members, adjust designs to feedback from key stakeholders, meet tight deadlines, and design within brand guidelines, supporting multiple brands.  The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of U/X and design best practices as they relate to mobile and website experiences.

  • Develop and execute creative concepts across multiple digital platforms.
  • Design online content including landing pages, weekly emails, ad units and other website elements that meet the goals and objectives of written and verbal briefs.
  • Manage multiple projects that span several brands.
  • Follow brand standards and web style guides to ensure each brand maintains its unique visual identity.
  • Coordinate design direction with eCommerce, creative services, brand marketing and vendor partners.
  • Optimize web graphics to ensure maximum download speed while maintaining high visual quality.
  • Translate designs into HTML/CSS content that meets W3C standards.
  • Create variations of content for segmentation, A/B testing and global use.
  • Balance numerous projects to meet ongoing tight deadlines.
  • Maintain organized archive of ongoing design projects for later reference.
  • Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic/web design required.
  • Strong skills with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver & InDesign.
  • Fluency with current HTML5/CSS3 coding standards & proficiency with responsive design.
  • Fluency with current email coding standards.
  • Strong U/X and mobile first design experience.
  • Knowledge of technical constraints and limitations as they apply to designing for mobile and desktop.
  • Experience with web graphic optimization techniques.
  • Understanding of cross-browser compatibility and troubleshooting.
  • Able to self-manage projects, prioritize workflow, multi-task, and meet hard deadlines.
  • Able to accept constructive criticism related to project design and adjust designs to meet brand and project requirements.
  • 3-5 years of web design experience is preferred.
  • Understanding of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
  • Experience with jQuery or JavaScript, WordPress and/or PHP is a plus.
  • Experience in the wine industry is preferred.
  • Must have a portfolio ready to share examples of past work and/or creative examples.
