Environmental Specialist I

Job Summary:

Supports, implements, and improves companywide environmental compliance and stewardship programs and management systems.  Compliance and stewardship programs include but are not limited to drinking water, waste water, storm water, waste, chemicals and reporting, sustainability certifications, water laboratory, air emissions, energy, and supply chain.  Provides environmental services for all TFE locations and business units that ensure compliance with regulatory and company stewardship standards.  Responsible for leading 1 or more designated essential companywide environmental management and stewardship programs.

  • Supports, implements, and improves designated regulatory compliance and sustainability projects and programs.
  • Supports the development of operational and regulatory technical guidance.
  • Completes required operational and program compliance tasks.
  • Prepares governmental reports, permits, and certifications.
  • Operates company environmental databases.
  • Completes inspections and assists with root cause assessments for sites and systems.
  • Supports implementation of compliance and stewardship action plans.
  • Develops and delivers web based and classroom training to enable employees on designated programs.
  • Collects and performs laboratory analysis for samples for water, and operates laboratory equipment.
  • Develops recommendations for and participates in environmental committees and awareness programs.
  • Assists with sustainability and stewardship programs.
  • Supports with the development and writing of company policies, standards, and procedures based on regulatory requirements and stewardship.
  • Supports the development of company sustainability metrics, continuous improvement, and innovation projects.
  • Supports company growth, expansion, and integration planning.


  • Education:  Bachelor’s in Environmental, Engineering, Water Quality, Biology or an equivalent science degree.
  • Experience Desired: One or more years of experience and capability for supporting 1 or more essential companywide environmental management programs.
  • Ability to support operation of and to learn theory of drinking water and waste water systems operations.
  • Ability to accurately follow instructions, take direction, and respond to frequently changing schedules.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and on multiple projects.
  • Demonstrates a highly motivated work ethic and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, analytical and organizational skills, and computer skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, proven ability to communicate effectively and work well with others.
  • Valid California driver’s license to operate TFE vehicles.

Working Conditions:

  • Both office and field work, and work site may be any one of Trinchero Family Estates’ facilities.
  • Regular working schedule may include weekends, holidays, and all shifts.
  • Must comply with all safety equipment requirements.
  • Exposure to machinery, forklifts, chemicals and related production equipment.
  • May require moderate to heavy physical work.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
